After a transition period given to the players and in order to adapt and become familiar with racket controls, the ITTF announces the new rules and changes.
The changes will take effect from
Wednesday 1st September 2010
As decided and approved by the ITTF’s Executive Committee, based on the
recommendation of the ITTF’s Equipment Committee, the following Racket Control
policy is in effect as of 7 October 2009.
1. The “Mini-RAE Lite ®” device is the official ITTF device to be used for the
detection of VOCs by Racket Controllers at all ITTF events.
2. The “Mini-RAE Lite ®” device is developed by R.A.E. Systems (USA) a multinational company with headquarters in the USA, and representatives
worldwide, that specializes in chemical and radiation detection.

First gold medal winners in the table tennis events at a Youth Olympic Games
Japan’s Koki Niwa and China’s Gu Yuting wrote their names indelibly into the history books of sport by becoming the first gold medal winners in the table tennis events at a Youth Olympic Games.
In the splendid setting of the Singapore Indoor Arena both players justified their no.1 seeded position; both withstood the intense pressure of the occasion to reserve the top step of the medal podium.
Koki Niwa defeated Chinese Taipei’s Hung Tzu-Hsiang in six games whilst, in four straight games, Gu Yuting overcame the host nation’s Isabelle Siyun Li.
Gu Yuting succeeded 11-8, 11-5, 11-8, 11-9 with Koki Niwa closing the curtain on the individual events by overcoming Chinese Taipei’s Hung Tzu-Hsiang 9-11, 11-8, 13-11, 13-15, 11-7, 15-13.
